LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 47th annual Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival, hosted by The Chamber Jeffersontown, began on Sunday, September 11th and runs through Sunday, September 18th with festivities held each day.
What started as a small street party in 1969 has grown to become one of the area's largest festivals.
Events include a Motorcycle Poker Rally, Golf Scramble, 5K, Business Appreciation Day, Football Bowl Games, Parade, Balloon Glow a Car Show, and new this year a free community Workout Series.
In addition to those events, the festival street fair is September 16th - 18th.
Festival goers can shop at over 200 vendor booths, enjoy live music, ride carnival rides and refreshments.
The festival weekend, located in the heart of downtown Jeffersontown, is a time honored tradition that celebrates community spirit.
Kosair Charities has partnered with The Chamber Jeffersontown again for this year's Gaslight 5K.
All registrants will have the opportunity to donate to Kosair Charities, or participate in the special route with Team Kosair Kids® to support Kosair's primary mission of helping children in need.
The Kosair Kids®, along with family and friends, will kick off the Gaslight 5K race on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30pm with a special route.
A new event this year is the Gaslight Workout Series.
This is a free community event that is open to all ages.
Attendees should just bring their yoga mats, fitness gear and water to wake up with the Gaslight Festival.
Under the Jeffersontown Pavilion participants can enjoy a yoga class with PM Yoga at 9:00 am, boot camp with Heuser Health at 10:00 am and dance fitness with Louisville Athletic Club at 11:00 am.
