LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Connecting communities with a new library designed for the digital age.
The Galena Digital Library is now open in Floyd County, Indiana. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Saturday morning to celebrate the new facility.
It puts an emphasis on technology and digital resources. The library features a maker space room with a 3D printer, vinyl cutter, laser etcher and sewing machine.
It also has high-speed Internet, laptops and kindles so guests can check out e-books, audiobooks, music and movies.
"The biggest part of it is connectivity and making sure that all of our community is connected, not only to library resources, but are connected to the digital services they need," Library Director Melissa Merida said.
Ironically, the technology packed library is located in a historic 1864 home.
