Olmsted North teacher accused of seeking sex with minor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A middle school teacher at Olmsted Academy North has been arrested for allegedly seeking sex with a minor.

Attorney General Andy Beshear’s office announced Thursday that Brandon Dietz, 37, was arrested Wednesday while traveling in Louisville to have sex with a person he believed to be a minor.

Metro Corrections online records show Dietz held on $25,000 cash bond. His arraignment is scheduled Friday.

In a news release, Beshear’s office identified Dietz as a girls softball coach in Louisville and a full-time JCPS middle school teacher.

JCPSĀ Communications Director Renee Murphy confirmed Dietz is a teacher at Olmsted Academy North and that the district is working with law enforcement on the matter. Once police work is done, she said JCPS will review the case and "take any additional steps as necessary."

Murphy said Dietz is not a coach with any JCPS programs.Ā

He is jailed in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of seeking sex with a minor online on Friday.

The attorney general’s office said Dietz requested sexual images from the person before they talked about meeting.

Beshear’s Cyber Crimes Unit had help from the Jeffersontown Police Department and U.S. Secret Service in the case, according to the release.

ā€œI appreciate the work of our cyber investigators and local and federal law enforcement officers who worked on this investigation,ā€ Beshear said in a statement.

ā€œRemoving from the streets those who seek to exploit and abuse our children is a top priority for my office, and for law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth.ā€
