LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "TIME Magazine" included the Louisville Slugger TPD1 bat in its Best Inventions of 2025.

The bat was recognized in the Sports and Fitness category for its innovative design and impact on baseball, according to a news release from Louisville Slugger.

TIME selected this year’s honorees through nominations from editors, reporters worldwide and online submissions, judging each entry on originality, usefulness and ambition.

"It’s an incredible honor for Louisville Slugger to be included on TIME’s list,” Jake Misener, marketing manager, said in a news release. "From our first bat in 1884 to nearly 150 years later, we continue to innovate in bat design."

The TPD1 torpedo-shaped bat debuted in the major leagues but quickly gained fans at all levels, from minor leagues to adult amateur and youth baseball.

The bat is available online and at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory store, 800 W. Main St., in downtown Louisville.
