LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Norton Healthcare has made a dubious list -- it's now among the top 10 companies for data breaches in the country.
The nonprofit Identity Theft Resource Center tracks data breaches. It just released a report Friday that shows the healthcare sector is among the top targets of cyber attacks. The report lists Norton Healthcare on its top 10 list of data breaches across the country for the fourth quarter of 2023.
ITRC ranked Norton Healthcare seventh, with 2.5 million victims. Xfinity was ranked first, with data breaches affecting over 35 million victims.
A hacker group called BlackCat claimed responsibility for the Norton ransomware attack in May of last year. BlackCat leaked files with some employees' names, customers' social security numbers, credit card numbers and medical history.
Norton has offered identity theft protection to everyone who was impacted by the breach.
