LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A graveside service was held Friday for a Louisville Metro Police officer who died in the line of duty seven years ago.
Family and friends of LMPD Officer Nick Rodman remembered him at Cave Hill Cemetery on the seventh anniversary of his death.
Police were chasing Wathaniel Woods on March 29, 2017, when Woods crashed into Rodman's police cruiser in the Portland neighborhood. Rodman died the next day. Woods is now in prison after pleading guilty to murder and other charges.
Rodman, who was 30 years old, left behind a wife and two children.
His brother, Nick Rodman, spoke at the memorial.
"We learned so much more about Nick after he was gone through all the stories from family, friends, acquaintances and strangers," he said Friday. "The thing that stood out the most was that he lived a life not full of words but of actions. His actions were caring. They were honest and they were principled. But, most importantly, they were done quietly, never seeking recognition."
Rodman's family also runs a foundation in his honor. To learn more about Nick Rodman Legacy Foundation, click here.
