LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Department of Education launched a statewide campaign to support school attendance.

Signs were placed across the state to remind students that missing school is more than missing lessons. It's also students missing connections with their community and the opportunity to build their future.

KDE defines a student as chronically absent if they miss 10% or more of the school year. That includes both excused and unexcused absences.

Parents can find guidelines on when to keep your child home for an illness and information to promote attendance online.
