LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People in Jefferson County can drop off Christmas trees for free at three sites around Louisville this winter.

Louisville Metro Public Works is recycling Christmas trees from residents in Jefferson County. Three locations are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. The three locations are:

  • East District Recycling Center, 595 N. Hubbards Lane
  • Public Works Yard, 10500 Lower River Road (enter from Bethany Lane)
  • Waste Reduction Center, 636 Meriwether Ave.

The Waste Reduction Center closes at 3 p.m. Saturdays. All locations will be closed on New Year's Day and Jan. 18. 

All lights an ornaments should be removed from trees before being dropped off.
