LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — In honor of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, Kentucky's Secretary of State Michael Adams launched a new recruitment portal on his website.

The new portal allows volunteers to sign up for their county, and then the portal sends their information directly to the county clerk.

“We can’t open the polls without volunteer poll workers,” Adams said in a news release. “Whether you are a Kentuckian who wants to ensure election integrity, or to prevent voter suppression, being a poll worker is the solution.”

A statewide election needs up to 15,000 volunteer poll workers. Sec. of State Adams got the law changed in 2021 to allow Independents to work the polls.

Poll workers have to be registered to vote in the county they serve in and must be able to attend training and work all day on Election Day.
