NEW NUTRITION LABEL GUIDELINES 1-3-20.jpg

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New guidelines for nutrition labels are now in effect.

The Food and Drug Administration is requiring labels to include up-to-date scientific information including the link between chronic diseases and diet.

The rule applies to manufacturers who sell more than $10 million per year in food products. Those who sell less will not have to comply until 2021.

The FDA said the changes will help consumers make healthier choices.
