PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Nico Iamaleava ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more as UCLA upset No. 7 Penn State 42-37 on Saturday. It was UCLA's first win of the season after head coach DeShaun Foster was fired and two coordinators left. The Bruins, who were 25 1/2-point underdogs, scored on their first five possessions at the Rose Bowl. Iamaleava capped his day with a 7-yard run and a 2-point conversion pass in the fourth. Penn State turned the ball over on a fumble to open the third quarter. UCLA extended its lead with a strong running game, ensuring they won't have the program's first winless season.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Julian Sayin passed for 326 yards and three touchdowns as top-ranked Ohio State beats Minnesota 42-3 on Saturday night. Sayin had his third 300-yard game in five starts, completing 23 of 27 passes. Carnell Tate dominated with 183 yards receiving, including a 44-yard touchdown. Jeremiah Smith caught two touchdowns, while CJ Donaldson, Bo Jackson, and Lincoln Kienholz add rushing scores. Minnesota scores a 27-yard field goal early but struggles afterward. Ohio State's defense dominated, holding Minnesota to 35 yards on their next seven series.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Luke Altmyer threw for a career-high 390 yards, Hank Beatty had 186 yards receiving and Kaden Feagin added two TD runs to lead No. 22 Illinois past Purdue 43-27. The Fighting Illini used their first conference road win to retain the Cannon Trophy for the first time since last beating its border rival in back-to-back seasons in 2001 and 2002. Altmyer was 19-for-22 passing with a touchdown throw to Beatty, who amassed his yardage on just five receptions including his 62-yard TD catch. Ca’Lil Valentine ran for 92 yards and a touchdown. The Illini finished with 507 total yards.

The Nittany Lions, who were ranked No. 7, may drop out of the AP Top 25 after this 42-37 defeat. Texas, ranked No. 9, lost to Florida and also could be knocked out of the rankings. Alabama and Georgia are expected to move up in the rankings. Illinois and Notre Dame also had strong performances, while South Florida and Cincinnati are making a case to enter the Top 25.
ANN ABROR, Mich. (AP) — Bryce Underwood threw for a season-high 270 yards and a touchdown, Justice Haynes ran for 117 yards and two scores and No. 20 Michigan beat Wisconsin 24-10. The Wolverines pulled away in the second half when Underwood threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Donaven McCulley late in the third quarter and Haynes had his second short touchdown run early in the fourth. The Badgers opened the game with a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock and didn’t score again until Nathanial Vakos kicked a 39-yard field goal late in the game.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Jonah Coleman scored on a 1-yard run with 3:21 remaining, capping Washington’s furious rally from a 20-point third-quarter deficit as the Huskies edged Maryland 24-20. The Huskies won on the road in Big Ten play for the first time since debuting in the league last season. It took a while for them to produce much of anything offensively, and Coleman finished with just 57 yards on 18 carries, but Washington scored touchdowns on each of its last three possessions, not counting the one the Huskies used to run out the clock at the end. Maryland hadn’t trailed all season before Coleman’s touchdown.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Emmett Johnson ran for three touchdowns and Nyziah Hunter caught a screen pass and ran most of the 59 yards to the end zone without a shoe to help Nebraska break away from Michigan State for a 38-27 victory. Johnson scored from 2, 23 and 11 yards and Carter Nelson ran in a blocked punt for a touchdown to lead the Cornhuskers on a day offense was at a premium. Kyle Cunanan’s 27-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter broke a 21-all tie.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Gavin McKenna scored his first goal for Penn State on a power play with 1:53 left to give the Nittany Lions the lead in a 4-2 victory over Arizona State on Saturday night. Expected to be the No. 1 pick next year in the NHL draft, the 17-year-old McKenna beat goalie Connor Hasley with a one-timer from the right side off a cross-ice pass from Mac Gadowsky. On Friday night in his college debut, McKenna had two first-period assists in a 6-3 victory over the Sun Devils. McKenna left the Western Hockey League champion Medicine Hat Tigers to play for Penn State after the NCAA lifted its ban on Canadian Hockey League players.
