(AP) — DJ Lagway threw for a season-high 289 yards and two touchdowns, both to a true freshman making his college debut, and Florida upset No. 9 Texas 29-21 to end a three-game skid. Arch Manning and the Longhorns had a chance in the final minute thanks partly to a defensive penalty, but he threw incomplete deep and was sacked twice. Florida enjoyed its first victory since beating Long Island in the season opener. Lagway looked better than he had in four previous starts this season, and Dallas Wilson had a lot to do with it. Wilson showed speed, hands and arguably the most physicality of any Florida receiver in years.

He threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns to go along with two interceptions in a 29-21 loss at Florida. He was sacked six times. Manning became the latest inexperienced QB to sink in the Swamp. But he nearly rallied the ninth-ranked Longhorns down the stretch. Thanks partly to a penalty, he got the Longhorns into Florida territory in the waning seconds. But he threw incomplete deep and then was sacked again to close it out.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Ty Simpson threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns, leading No. 10 Alabama to a 30-14 victory over No. 16 Vanderbilt on Saturday. Simpson overcame an early interception to complete 23-of-30 passes, finding Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams for touchdowns. Jam Miller ran for 136 yards and a touchdown for the Crimson Tide (4-1, 2-0 SEC). Diego Pavia threw for 183 yards and ran for 58 for Vanderbilt (5-1, 1-1), but threw an interception and lost a fumble. Sedrick Alexander had a 65-yard touchdown run.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — KC Concepcion caught two touchdown passes and No. 6 Texas A&M dominated on defense for a second consecutive week, beating Mississippi State 31-9 on Saturday night. The Aggies improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2016. They are 2-0 in the SEC. The Bulldogs, still aiming for their first SEC victory in coach Jeff Lebby’s two seasons, held a 3-0 lead for most of the first half. The slow-starting Aggies finally got on the scoreboard with 1:51 remaining in the second quarter on a 34-yard touchdown reception by Concepcion.
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Gunner Stockton and Dillon Bell each had a pair of touchdown runs, leading No. 12 Georgia to a 35-14 victory over Kentucky as the Bulldogs bounced back from a loss to Alabama. Georgia finally got off to a quick start, capping its first two possessions with scoring runs by Stockton. The quarterback finished with 48 yards on six carries. Stockton also threw for 196 yards, with a 16-yard scoring pass to Cash Jones. Bell tacked on a pair of 3-yard TD runs. Kentucky has lost 16 straight to the Bulldogs, with its last win coming in 2009.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Michael Hawkins Jr. shined as No. 5 Oklahoma dominated Kent State 44-0 to improve to 5-0. Hawkins stepped in for injured John Mateer. He passed for three touchdowns and ran for another. Isaiah Sategna caught two touchdown passes, and Tory Blaylock ran for 78 yards. Oklahoma's defense held Kent State to 135 total yards. The Sooners recorded five sacks and 13 tackles for loss. Oklahoma got a defensive touchdown on a fumble return by Gracen Halton. Oklahoma receiver Keontez Lewis was carted off after running headfirst into a brick wall, but is reportedly in promising condition.
UNDATED (AP) — Penn State has suffered another tough loss, this time to UCLA, in what so farf is the upset of the year in college football. The Nittany Lions, who were ranked No. 7, may drop out of the AP Top 25 after this 42-37 defeat. Texas, ranked No. 9, lost to Florida and also could be knocked out of the rankings. Alabama and Georgia are expected to move up in the rankings. Illinois and Notre Dame also had strong performances, while South Florida and Cincinnati are making a case to enter the Top 25.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma receiver Keontez Lewis left Saturday's game against Kent State after hitting his head on a brick barrier. A pass by Michael Hawkins Jr. was overthrown, causing Lewis to collide headfirst with the unpadded wall in the end zone. Lewis lay motionless before being attended to and strapped onto a stretcher. The team gathered around him before he was carted off. The game was scoreless with 10:37 remaining in the first quarter. OU Sports Medicine said during the game that Lewis was sent offsite for additional testing, and the outlook for him is “promising.”
