LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Just is Pride Month and events are not only taking part around the world but also in Kentuckiana.

Sunday morning the Louisville Pride Foundation and the Louisville Running Company held the third annual Pride 5K at Iroquois Park.

Nearly 500 runners took part by either walking or running. All runners received a pride headband and a finisher's medal.

The race serves as a fundraiser for the Louisville Pride Foundation.

"It's important for the community to realize we are here, that we are a strong group and that we are willing to fight for everyone's rights and equality for everyone and at the same time enjoy health and fitness," event participant Jason Button said.

The Kentuckiana Pride Parade will go through the streets of NuLu next Saturday followed by the annual festival at Big Four Park.
