LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some New Jersey drivers are in an uproar about a new driving program.
A 6'-4" Donald Duck decoy is waddling through crosswalks to catch drivers who aren't yielding to pedestrians. Violators are given a $230 fine.
Some people plan to dispute their tickets.
"Then they just told me that I was getting a ticket because I didn't stop for a pedestrian," said Karen Haigh. "And it was a crazy. It was a duck -- a huge duck. It scared me. I'm a woman. This huge duck scared me."
"When you see a pedestrian, whether it's a young child, whether it's an adult -- even if it's a seven-foot duck -- stop, let the pedestrian cross safely and then proceed with your day," said Keith Bendul, chief of the Fort Lee Police Department.
Police say they conduct crosswalk safety programs throughout the year.
