Last week, CBS cancelled the iconic Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
I was not really surprised. For ten years Stephen Colbert has relentlessly been anti-Trump and anti-Republican. He is funny, but if you are belittling one political party every night and the core values of the people who support it, you’ll turn off half the country. Why would Colbert think he could compete in only half the country and still survive?
Here's what our viewers had to say:
The Stephen Colbert show should have been canceled long time ago. You can't even sit down and enjoy a late night show without the constant bashing of Donald Trump.
I think I should have just discontinued Stephen Colbert for a long time ago. He lost, being funny, when he kept making fun of one side and not the other.
I think CBS was incorrect in canceling The Stephen Colbert show. I think this is just another form of authoritarian.
I think that the Colbert Show, the Late Show, is an asset in times as these, when you have an administration that don't mind lying to its constituents.
Colbert was paid to be funny. Be a comedian. But he lost his job going political, and it cost his employer tens of millions of dollars. Just be a comedian.
