Starting Monday, the state will begin to calculate the state's positivity rate based off COVID-19 PCR tests that have been sent electronically.
Saturday marks only the second time Kentucky has reported more than 1,000 new cases of the virus in a single day since March.
Fifty-three of the new cases reported Wednesday were from Jefferson County.
Sunday's report brings Kentucky to 19,389 total infections since the pandemic began.
