Israel launched strikes on Iran while Tehran responded by firing drones and missiles at Jerusalem and U.S. military installations. The attacks on Sunday came a day after the U.S. and Israel launched waves of strikes on Iran that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The killing of the longtime theocratic leader of Iran throws the future of the Islamic Republic into doubt and raises the risk of regional instability. President Donald Trump said in an interview that he was willing to speak with Iran’s new leadership, though in a separate interview he said the operation against Iran was always thought to be a “about a four-week process.”
