Tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians are returning to neighborhoods in Gaza as a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is in its second day. Israelis cheered U.S. envoys and President Donald Trump on Saturday at a weekly rally they hope will be the last. Israel’s military has said the 48 hostages still in Gaza will be freed Monday. About 200 U.S. troops have arrived in Israel to monitor the ceasefire. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Gaza on Saturday. And Egypt says Trump will co-chair a “peace summit” there on Monday on Gaza and the Middle East.
