Defender Brayan Ceballos scored two goals in the first half to spark New England to a 6-1 romp over FC Cincinnati in the Revolution’s home opener. Ceballos scored in the 25th minute to tie it after Gerardo Valenzuela scored six minutes earlier to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead. Dor Turgeman gave New England the lead in the 31st minute before Ceballos scored three minutes into stoppage time for a 3-1 advantage at the half. Alhassan Yusuf, Griffin Yow and Peyton Miller scored in the second half for the Revs.

Hany Mukhtar scored four minutes into second-half stoppage time — the 25,000th goal in MLS history — and Brian Schwake earned his second clean sheet in his fourth MLS start as Nashville SC beat the Columbus Crew 1-0. Mukhtar subbed in to begin the second half for Nashville (3-0-1) before scoring for the second time this season. It was his 84th goal in 183 career appearances with the club. The 34-year-old Schwake saved two shots for the shutout. Patrick Schulte totaled three saves in goal for the Crew (0-2-2), who were also shut out at home last week in a scoreless draw with the Chicago Fire.

Two players were banned for life by Major League Soccer for gambling on soccer, including bets involving their own matches. Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah were placed on administrative leave in October 2025 pending an MLS review of potential violations of league rules. Jones was playing for the Columbus Crew when he was placed on leave. Yeboah, Jones’ former teammate in Columbus, played for LAFC last season and is currently playing for Qingdao Hainiu in China.

Dániel Sallói scored late in the second half behind a clean sheet from Luka Gavran and Toronto FC defeated FC Cincinnati 1-0. Sallói used an assist from Richie Laryea to score the lone goal in the 86th minute and Gavran made two saves to finish off the shutout for Toronto (1-2-0). Sallói’s goal was his first for Toronto after spending his previous nine seasons with Sporting Kansas City. It was his 54th goal in 245 appearances. Laryea’s first assist this season gives him 15 in 160 career appearances. Gavran notched his first shutout this season and his third in 19 career starts with Toronto. Roman Celentano turned away six shots in goal for Cincinnati (1-2-0).

Chris Brady finished with three saves for the Chicago Fire and Patrick Schulte stopped two shots for Columbus as the longtime rivals played to a scoreless draw in the Crew’s home opener. It was the 24th draw in the 80th meeting between the two clubs with the victories knotted at 28 apiece.

Diego Rossi scored late in the second half to offset a two-goal effort by Dejan Joveljić, rallying the Columbus Crew to a 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City. Rossi found the net unassisted in the 82nd minute to help the Crew (0-1-1) earn a point on the road after falling 3-2 to the Portland Timbers in a season opener in Oregon. Wessam Abou Ali scored in a second straight match, finding the net unassisted off a turnover in the 33rd minute to stake Columbus to a 1-0 lead that it carried into halftime. Sporting KC (0-1-1) pulled even three minutes into the second half when Joveljić used assists from Jake Davis and Calvin Harris to score the club’s first goal of the season.

Kelvin Yeboah’s rebound goal and Drake Callender’s four saves gave Minnesota United FC a 1-0 win over Cincinnati FC on Saturday.After a free kick was given inches outside of the 18-yard box, Tomás Chancalay’s set piece bounced off a wall of Cincinnati defenders and rebounded off the right post. Yeboah followed the shot and headed it in in the 66th minute.Callender made a host of key saves for Minnesota (1-1-0, 4 points), including a leaping save on a shot from Obinna Nwobodo in the 71st minute.

Ariel Lassiter had the only goal of the second half and Portland beat the Columbus Crew 3-2 in a season opener, topping off a record-setting night for the Timbers’ Diego Chará. Lassiter scored the winner in the 88th minute on a night when Chará became the first field player in league history to make 400 starts with one club. It was the 500th MLS match for the Timbers and Chará has appeared in 427 of them as he begins his league-record 16th season with one team.
