Turcotte, who died Friday at 84, was born in New Brunswick, Canada, and grew up in a 12-child logging family with no running water.

Churchill Downs posted a picture of Turcotte in the Winner's Circle following  Kentucky Derby win on Friday in announcing the passing of the Hall of Fame jockey.
