LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Emergency crews with lights and sirens escorted the Lanesville Lady Eagles basketball team Friday to Indianapolis to defend their state title.
The team left early Friday morning ahead Saturday's game. Fans lined the streets and overpasses to cheer them on and send them off.
They play No. 5 Marquette Catholic Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the Class 1A State Championship.
The Lady Eagles are 28-1 this season and have won 14 games in a row. Last season, Lanesville defeated Bethany Christian, 60-41, to capture the state championship.
