LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Rand Paul's son has been arrested on charges of underage drinking and more.

The son of the U.S. Senator from Kentucky was arrested yesterday evening.

William Paul was booked in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Paul is charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption.

Officers also say he was intoxicated and disruptive.

Moira Bagley, the communication director for Rand Paul, released this statement to WDRB News in an email:

"Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this."
