LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say one man is in critical condition after a head-on crash on I-65 in Scott County, Indiana, Tuesday evening.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, it happened just before 6:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate, near mile marker 27.

"A preliminary investigation reveals that a black 2009 Toyota Corolla...was traveling southbound on I-65 approaching the 27 mile marker when the vehicle lost control for an unknown reason," the news release states. "The vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway, crossing over the median and entered the northbound lanes of I-65."

Police say the vehicle then hit a semi truck that was traveling northbound and then crossed into the right-hand lane and hit the rear tandem wheels of a 2015 Peterbilt, before stopping in the median.

The driver of the Toyota was flown to University Hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
