LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two fights broke out on a JCPS school bus Monday afternoon, causing the bus driver to pull off to the side of the road twice and sending one student to the hospital.
The first fight on Bus No. 736 happened around 3 p.m. while the bus was on Interstate 64 west just past the Watterson Expressway, said Bonnie Hackbarth, a district spokeswoman. The bus was transporting approximately 50 students from Crosby Middle School, according to officers at the scene.
"We called LMPD, they arrived within 10 minutes and one child was transported to the hospital," Hackbarth said.
Hackbarth said the bus continued on its way and then a second fight broke out near 26th and Bank streets in the Portland neighborhood.
"The driver alerted JCPS security, they came and transported three students home," she said. "The rest of the students were delivered home by the bus driver."
Hackbarth said according to the district's code of conduct, students caught fighting on a school bus could face a short term suspension.
