LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Authorities have released the name of a man who died following a shooting at a Washington County stockyard.

Preliminary autopsy results state the victim, 53-year-old Shane E. Thomason, died from a gunshot wound, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.

Authorities say foul play is suspected in Thomason's death.

The autopsy was performed Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville.

Just before 3 p.m. on Monday, state police said Washington County deputies responded to a report of a shooting in Springfield.

Thomason was taken to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to KSP.

A release says state police have launched an investigation into Thomason's death.
