LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police are searching for the driver of a white pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist on Westport Road.
It happened about 4:00 a.m. Thursday between Westport Middle School and Ormsby Lane. Westport Road was closed in that area for about three hours while police investigated.
Police say a man on a bicycle was hit by a white pickup truck. Officers say the driver left the scene.
Down the road, the damaged bike was found on Lyndon Lane near Herr Lane. Police tell WDRB the driver tried to remove the bike from his truck's grill , but had trouble getting it out. There are pieces of the bike along Westport Road.
Buses and parents had a few delays getting to Westport Middle School by talking side roads. A JCPS spokesperson said the school can be accessed from Hurstbourne Parkway, so traffic was rerouted onto Old Westport.
The name of the cyclist has not been released, but police say the victim was a man in his 30's.
