A Louisville grand jury on July 30 declined to indict Louisville Metro Police Officer Alyssa Begel on a charge of second-degree manslaughter in the death of 61-year-old Charles Briscoe.
Begel remained on paid administrative leave since the crash.
LMPD's Professional Standards Unit, which investigates LMPD policy violations by police department members, launched an investigation into the crash. Investigators found Begel was driving 95 mph in a 45 mph zone on Fern Valley Road without her lights and sirens activated.
