LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Applications are now being accepted in Jefferson County to receive a free home weatherization this winter.

It's part of Project Warm's annual blitz to help those who may be struggling with high energy bills.

For more than 40 years, the program has offered free window plastic installation to help keep the heat in and the cold out, and cut down on energy costs during the winter months.

To qualify, applicants must live in Jefferson County, be age 60 or older, or have a verified disability.

Both homeowners and renters are eligible. To apply, call (502) 636-9276 and provide your current LG&E account number.

The window plastic will be installed Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 on up to 100 households that will be served this year.
