A medical examiner concluded Crain had drowned, and the Kentucky State Police ruled it a suicide. Case closed. Or so it seemed.
Investigators initially believed that Brandon Crain had committed suicide. He was described as "depressed and suicidal" by his mother and had threatened to jump from a bridge over the Green River in Hart County.
Daniel Hostetler was pardoned by former Gov. Matt Bevin on Tuesday. He was released from the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex on Wednesday.
