LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The oldest-working steamboat in America took off in one of the oldest Kentucky Derby Festival events Wednesday evening.
The Belle of Louisville and the Belle of Cincinnati went head-to-head for the coveted Silver Antlers in the annual Great Steamboat Race.
This year's winner was the Belle of Cincinnati.
The 14-mile course on the Ohio River starts and finishes at the Clark Memorial Bridge.
It's a fun time that keeps people coming back every year.
"It's really fascinating to watch take off and come back and see which boat run the whole race," Buford Pullin, who attends the race every year, said.
The Belle of Louisville won the race last year. The race has been a staple of the Derby festival since 1963.
