LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- All westbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the Jefferson and Shelby County line reopened at around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning after a 2-vehicle crash Thursday.
The crash caused a significant backup to Buck Creek Road in Simpsonville, at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. According to TRIMARC, the left shoulder, all lanes and right shoulder were blocked for hours.
According to Metro Councilmember Stuart Benson, a dump truck, that was part of the road crew in the construction zone, hit the TRIMARC traffic information sign and gantry. There were no injuries.
The collision separated the back of the dump truck.
At 1:10 p.m. one lane reopened to traffic. But I-64 west closed again around 2:30 p.m. as heavy equipment arrived on scene under the damaged information sign.
A traffic camera picture showed a semi that crashed into the guardrail.
Buses for Shelby County Schools were delayed due to high volumes of traffic in Shelbyville caused by the crash.
The crashed caused closures and delays on I-64 west for over 12 hours.
