LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A nationally recognized Champagne bar in the Clifton neighborhood is officially reopening.
The Champagnery is set to reopen on Friday, Jan. 12 after being closed for around a year. The Louisville bar features Champagne and sparkling wines from around the world.
"We knew we were going to reopen, we just needed to find the right supporting team who could help us run The Champagnery in the best way," said Charlotte Stengel, owner of The Champagnery. "We're adamant about the best service, but also making people feel comfortable and feel at home there."
The Champagnery was named by the Champagne Bureau as one of the top 10 best Champagne bars in the U.S. in 2022. Opened in 2018,Ā The Champagnery at 1764 Frankfort Avenue brought a new concept to Louisville, according to owners Charlotte and Brad Stengel.
"We're supporting a new cause in Louisville, which is bubbles in bourbon country," Charlotte Stengel said. "It was fun, and we were growing and growing and doing well. Then the pandemic hit."
After offering curbside service during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,Ā The Champagnery returned to full service for several years. Stengel said the temporary closure last year was used to strengthen the operations of the bar.
"We knew we weren't going to close although that was everyone's fear, we always had plans to reopen," Stengel said. "The Champagnery is a unique place. It's not only a great business for Louisville, but it's a great business for Kentucky as we educate and feature sparkling wines from around the world and Champagne from Champagne, France."
Along with more than 250 Champagnes and sparkling wines,Ā The Champagnery also offers craft cocktails, mocktails and other spirits. The bar will offer an expanded food menu that goes beyond Champagne and wine pairings.Ā
"Now we're baking everything in house, before we would go to local vendors," Stengel said. "Everything will be homemade from baked breads to sweets, savory, sandwiches, soups and salads. Not just a pairing menu, but also some things that people could eat for lunch or dinner as well."
The Champagnery's typical business hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with High Tea offered between 2-4 p.m.
