JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) — Construction crews started work on a 200-home subdivision in southern Indiana near the River Ridge Commerce Center.
A local real estate agent said continued industrial growth is driving demand for housing.
Matt Henegar, the real estate agent for the Jeffersonville project known as Kings Crossing off Charlestown Pike, said builders are struggling to keep up.
"We can't build enough homes with the amount of demand," Henegar said.
The development by Land-Mill Developers will replace what Henegar described as the King family farm, land he said had been sought after by builders for years.
The cottage-style brick and stone homes are expected to be built in phases over the next seven to 10 years. The first four foundations have already been poured.
Homes are expected to range from about 1,600 to 1,700 square feet and be priced from $360,000 to $375,000, Henegar said.
He said Kings Crossing is the latest in a series of subdivisions emerging around River Ridge, which has expanded over the last decade with factories and industrial buildings and has brought thousands of jobs to the area.
With the site's proximity to the commerce center, Henegar said he expects demand to remain strong as long as River Ridge continues to grow.
