LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Most of us now are paying our bills online, so it's pertinent to watch out for this one little warning.
Your bank's online bill pay system is quick and convenient, but also very easy to make a mistake as one woman learned.
Leslie Hoctor was paying her bills online the other day and made a pretty big fat finger mistake, she called it.
Like most of us, her bank lists all the companies she pays every month.
It works great, until you accidentally pay the wrong one!
Leslie accidentally switched her $1,000+ mortgage payment with her $150 electric bill.
Panicked, she called the utility and explained the error, but it was not so simple getting it reversed.
"They sent it to their accounting department which could take 6 to 8 weeks to get it to me, and I need to allow another week for the postal service."
Ā Be sure to slow down and double check while paying bills online, maybe use a laptop and not your phone.
And if you make a mistake, call your bank immediately and ask them to reverse the charge.
