LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Thousands of people crowded the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville the weekend before Christmas.
"I think it's been kind of great, it gives me the feeling of the family aspect of it, the feeling of being wanted and needed and around people it just makes it better," shopper Kolby Wafford said on Sunday.
Family and friends were getting outside to grab the finishing touches to their holiday season. Some of them said they prefer shopping in-person versus online.
"I like to do in-person, because I can try it on and see if it fits," shopper Nevaeh, said.
Many shoppers are feeling the pressure, expecting gifts they've ordered to be delivered in time.
"The anxiety is getting to me, because I'm waiting on a couple things to come and I'm not sure they're going to make it," Wafford said.Â
Shopper Ted Sauer agrees.Â
"That's the nightmare of Christmas shopping, especially when it takes a week or two weeks to get to you and then when you do it's wrong size or not as advertised," Sauer said.
This comes as new reports point to malls making a comeback. Recent data shows foot traffic is up at shopping centers, and the Outlet Shoppes' marketing director, Brandi Taylor, said they've seen the surge.
"There's something about being in an atmosphere that's this joyful and festive it brings out the best in humanity and it's wonderful," Taylor said.
With just a few days left to get ready for Christmas morning, it's time to put a bow on shopping.
"You can come out and just relax, enjoy it, it's not stressful, it's easy to get those last-minute things pop in and out and you're done," Taylor said.
She also adds several new stores are coming to the Outlet Shoppes in 2026. They just added a new Pandora store, and in the New Year, they'll add Ulta, Victoria's Secret, Fabletics, Lee Wrangler, Offline by Aerie and others.
