LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A longtime Highlands karaoke bar will close this week after nearly three decades in business.
According to our partners Louisville Business First, Akiko’s Karaoke Bar will shut down Tuesday, ending a run that lasted nearly 30 years on Bardstown Road.
The owner shared the announcement on social media, saying the business tried to remain open but ultimately could not reach an agreement to stay in the space after 28 years.
Customers will have one last chance to visit, as drink specials will be offered through the final night of service Tuesday.
The bar has long been known as a late-night destination in the Highlands, drawing crowds with karaoke and a lively atmosphere.
The closure is part of a broader shift along Bardstown Road, where several well-known businesses have recently left while new ones begin to move in.
