LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Old Louisville restaurant that closed after a fiery crash in May will reopen Wednesday.
Renshoku Ramen was damaged after a car crashed into a tree and caught fire at the corner of 2nd and Oak streets.Ā According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson John Bradley, the vehicle was traveling east on Oak in the westbound lanes at a high rate of speed and crashed into a parked car and a tree.Ā
The fire then spread to the building, causing significant damage.
The driver died at the scene.
The restaurantĀ was left without power and smelled of smoke. But now, everything has been repaired.
Renshoku held pop-ups across town to keep its business going. It also partnered with DiFabio's Casapela, using its space for four dinner shifts in July while the building was being repaired.
A grand reopening is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday.
