Louisville, KY (WDRB News) -- General Electric says it is the largest advertising campaign in the history of Appliance Park.   "We are spending an unprecedented level in terms of this ad," says Tim Matis, the director of advertising for appliances at GE.

For competitive reasons he says he can't say how much the ad is costing GE, which will start airing nationally on June 14.  The ad promotes GE's new line for French door refrigerators that are part of the recent revival at Appliance Park.

"This is very unique," says Matis, "so we had to find a special way to tell people about this product."

The ad shows the refrigerator on a road trip in a pickup traveling from Louisville to bring fresh food to a biologist working in the wilderness.  The idea is to promote the special features of the new refrigerator which include a hand free water dispensing feature.

GE engineer Justin Berger of Louisville who helped design the product appears in the commercial.  He says, "I am really excited about all of the technology that went into the product from an engineering side I can speak to some of that technology."

Justin said he had fun taking part in the commercial, but was surprised at the number of people it takes to produce a high-quality commercial.

This is the second time this year Appliance Park and its workers have been part of a national ad campaign.

In addition to the TV commercial, this current campaign is using social media to promote the product, including tweets, Facebook posts, and a promotional website.
