LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā Construction is underway on a new horse racetrack in eastern Kentucky.
The $10 million horse racetrack is under construction on 182 acres in Ashland, Kentucky, behind Sandy's Gaming, a $75 million entertainment facility that opened nearly a year ago. The new racetrack will be the only track in Kentucky dedicated to quarter horse racing.
āWe are excited to begin this phase of our project, which will be unlike anything else in the state,ā Larry Lucas, Chairman of Revolutionary Racing, which owns both the gaming facility and racetrack, said in a news release Friday. āWe envision this to be much more than just a racetrack ā we expect it to become an entertainment destination for families, whether itās for racing, concerts, farmerās markets or youth sports."
Revolutionary Racing plans to ask the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation for 2026 race dates at the new Sandy Ridge racetrack.
