LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Three men were arrested on multiple drug and gun charges after police searched a southern Indiana home.
According to a news release Thursday from the City of Madison Police Department, detectives began an investigation in mid-June into a house located in the 300 block of Fairmount Drive after complaints of "suspicious activity."
After getting a search warrant, police searched the home and found multiple guns, narcotics and drug paraphernalia. One of the guns officers found had previously been reported stolen out of Jennings County, police said.
Madison officers brought along the Indiana State Police SWAT Team to help with the search due to potential safety concerns.
Police said Jerry Diaz, 52, of Madison, came out of the home shortly after officers got there and was taken into custody.
When no one else came outside, SWAT officers entered the home and found Marcelino Rodriguez 49, of Fort Wayne, barricaded inside of a bedroom. He was also taken into custody after refusing to come out.
At that point, Zaid Diaz, 18, of Madison, returned home and was detained by officers.
Both Jerry Diaz and Rodriguez were charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, hypodermic syringe or needle and firearm by a serious violent felon. Rodriguez was also charged with resisting law enforcement.
Zaid Diaz was charged with theft of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
All three have a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 7.
