LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 34-year-old man was arrested last month in Mississippi and charged with a murder earlier this summer in Old Louisville.
Desmond Deshawn Shaw was arrested Aug. 30 in Coffeeville, Mississippi, by U.S. Marshals after an hour-long standoff inside a residence there. He's charged with murder, assault, criminal mischief and theft of a firearm in connection to the July 22 fatal shooting of Jaron Starling at 4th and Oak streets.

Louisville Metro Police officers were called around 9:40 a.m. that day to find three shooting victims — Starling and two women — in the parking lot in front of a business, according to a news release from LMPD.
Officers at the scene began to render first aid to the victims until EMS arrived. All three were taken to UofL Hospital, where Starling was listed in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, LMPD said.Â
The women's injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said, and they are expected to survive.Â
Shaw remains in custody in Mississippi awaiting extradition to Jefferson County.
