LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested in Bardstown Wednesday night after police said he fired multiple rounds at officers.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Evergreen Court, near the American Fuji Seal plant, around 10 p.m. on a report of gunshots being fired, according to a news release from the Bardstown Police Department.

When police arrived, they found 43-year-old Travis Bowman, who was armed and "immediately barricaded himself inside a residence" and "began firing multiple rounds" at responding officers.

KSP officers were requested for assistance and police said the situation continued for near five hours. During those five hours, Bowman continued to fire random shots at officers, according to the release.

Bowman was eventually taken into custody without further incident and taken to the Nelson County Correctional Center. He is charged with attempted murder of a first responder (peace officer) and wanton endangerment of a police officer.

Kentucky State Police is investigating and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact KSP Post-4.
