Billie Jo Roberts arrested in Taylor Co. Ky for DUI - 12.8.23

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Michigan woman was charged with DUI after a person died and another was seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Campbellsville.

Kentucky State Police were called by the Campbellsville Police Department to assist in a three-vehicle injury collision.

Billie Jo Roberts, 46, of Michigan, was traveling south in a Ford FocusĀ when she crossed the center line and hit a Honda Accord head-on.

The Accord was being driven by Michael Smith, 62, of Campbellsville. He attempted to avoid the crash, but couldn't, resulting in a third vehicle colliding with Roberts' vehicle, according to KSP.

Shelby Druien, 68, of Campbellsville, was operating the third vehicle.

Smith and his passenger, 87-year-old Juliet Kirtley, were both transported to the hospital. Kirtley died at Taylor Regional Hospital from her injuries.

Druien and Roberts refused medical treatment at the scene.

Roberts was arrested and charged with vehicle homicide, assault, reckless driving, and traffic offenses.
