Dan Issel trying to spur grassroots movement to make Louisville 'NBA Ready'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Hall of Famer is breathing new life into an old Louisville dream that's been talked about for years.

Dan Issel gave an update to investors and supporters Wednesday night on efforts to bring an NBA team to Louisville. The former UK and Kentucky Colonels star took over as president of the NBA2Lou group this summer after the sudden resignation of longtime member J. Bruce Miller.

The group says support needs to start at the grassroots level, and fans are excited about the potential.

"The state is very passionate about basketball to begin with," said Casey Cavanah, an NBA2Lou supporter. "For me, it's a no-brainer."

The group is focused on making Louisville "NBA ready," should the league decide to expand.
