LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Future electricians and HVAC professionals at Valley High School got hands-on, real world experience Wednesday, a chance to test-drive the tools they'll use in the field.

Eckart Supply brought its Milwaukee Tool Trailer to the school, providing students with an opportunity to explore the latest in HVAC and electrical tools. The mobile unit is designed to showcase and demonstrate Milwaukee tools, giving students an up-close look at the equipment they'll need in their future careers.

From powerful drills to cutting-edge meters, students eagerly stepped inside the trailer, where Eckart Supply representatives guided them through hands-on demonstrations.

The school's electrical teacher, John Spiva, said the initiative is part of Valley's academies program, which equips students with valuable real-world experience in their chosen fields, providing a practical alternative to a traditional college path.

"A lot of students join our program because they’re genuinely interested in the industry," Spiva said. "They’re realizing that you don’t have to go to college to be successful. You can enter the trades and receive a quality education."

"I was planning to join the military, but as I started getting really into this, I received job offers. So, I decided to stick with it. Next year, I'll be going out to Glendale to work with Blue Oval." (14 sec)

In addition to hands-on experience, students in the program can also earn college credits while co-opping, further enhancing their education and future career prospects.

"I was planning to join the military but as I started getting really into this, I received job offers," said Aaron Anderson, a senior at Valley. "So I decided to stick with it. Next year, I'll be going out to Glendale to work with BlueOval."

With hands-on experiences like these, students at Valley are better prepared for the future.
