LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The second annual Great Bourbon Spelling Bee scheduled for March 1 at the Muhammad Ali Center in downtown Louisville.
The event is a fundraiser for Educational Justice, a nonprofit using teenager mentorship to close educational gaps. It pairs middle-school students with high schoolers for "long-term one-on-one tutoring and mentorship to improve their academic performance and social development."
The competition is made up of teams of eight. People can purchase a team as a sponsor for $1,500 or fundraise with teammates to enter for $1,600, or $200 a person.
Last year's spelling bee raised more than $80,000 for Educational Justice's mission.
The Great Bourbon Spelling Bee begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 1. To purchase a ticket, click here.
