LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's that time of year again: time to gather up all the mutts and felines in your life for their annual pictures with ole' Saint Nic!
For the 31st year in a row, your pets can get their pictures taken with Santa Claus. According to a news release, the annual Picture Your Pets with Santa even will be held at all 23 local Feeders Supply stores. The public is invited to bring their pets to the stores on the first two weekends in December for pictures.
The event will take place on Dec. 1 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 2 and 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dogs and cats are the most common participants, but all animals are welcome.
"Some off the more unusual guests have included chickens, bunnies, bearded dragons, guinea pigs and even horses," the news release states.
Pet owners are asked to have dogs on leashes and cats and other pets in carriers. Horses can be photographed outside with Santa. Professional photos will be offered in various packages, starting at $12. Gift items featuring the pet's photo, including ornaments, mugs and key chains are also available, starting at $14.
Organizers of the event hope to attract more than 5,000 families and raise over $100,000 for 10 local animal charities. Those charities include the Kentucky Humane Society, the Floyd County Animal Rescue League, the Lexington Humane Society, the Franklin County Humane Society, the Humane Society of Oldham County, the J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter, Saving Sunny, the Shamrock Pet Foundation, Barktown Rescue and Boone County Animal Control.
