LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A daycare owner makes a bold move, voluntarily closing its doors just days after one of its vans was involved in a deadly crash.

Heavenly Angels has been dark for days.

The childcare center closed Tuesday, after its van crashed into a tree right around the corner, killing the monitor, Tiffany Belk, and sending 15 others to the hospital.

It was a frightening scene for everyone involved.

Day by day, more children are released from Kosair Children's Hospital, but several are still recovering from the violent accident.

Dr. Stephen Wright, Medical Director at Kosair, says, "Most of the time they go home, so to have this many children injured and have to be admitted is a little bit unusual."

Employees tell us the daycare was suppose to re-open Monday, but now everyone is without a job.

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services, who oversees daycare operations, tells us the owner decided to close all three Heavenly Angels Childcare Centers for good.

A state health official confirms a separate Heavenly Angels location was suspended from transporting children last year.

That location as since closed.

We tried to reach the owner for comment, but she has not returned our phone calls.

We spoke to an employee who would not go on camera, saying she could not reach the owner either.

The woman was told to come back to work on Monday, and she's upset to find out she lost her job, from the news.

But she says, she'd probably close the doors too, if she was in charge.

We are still waiting on updates on the police investigation.

LMPD is bringing in an expert to investigate the possibility of a faulty tire. Another factor still being considered is speed, and investigators are also waiting on results of the toxicology screening of the driver, which is a routine part of every investigation into fatal crashes.
