LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jeffersonville police are warning residents to stay alert after what the department described as "parking lot pirates" broke into multiple vehicles.
According to the Jeffersonville Police Department, the thefts happened in the city's Central District before the suspect fled the area in a white sedan.
Police officers later located the vehicle, arrested a suspect and recovered several items believed to have been stolen.
The department is reminding residents that thieves often target unlocked vehicles or those with valuables left in plain sight.
Police encourage people to lock their vehicles, remove or hide valuables before leaving them unattended and report suspicious activity immediately.
Anyone who believes they may have been affected by the break-ins or has information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Jeffersonville Police Department.
