LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A safety makeover is in the works for a heavily traveled, and often dangerous, route connecting south Louisville to downtown.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project will revamp three miles of Seventh Street Road, starting at Algonquin Parkway and heading south as it turns into Manslick Road, stopping just before Manslick crosses over the Watterson Expressway.
Local transportation officials joined KYTC to meet with community members Tuesday night about the project at the South Louisville Community Center.
They're studying current conditions, crash data, and traffic counts along the route with a goal of making it safer for both foot traffic and cars.
"Some of our best ides do come from the public," Michael Vaughn, KYTC Traffic Safety branch manager, said. "We do use data a lot these days, but the data doesn't always tell the whole story So that public feedback is a critical component."
A final report is expected by the end of 2025. Leaders plan to meet with neighbors again this summer as ideas for improvements take shape.
